A delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) led by its Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong has been attending activities within the framework of the 28th Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum Annual Meeting (APPF-28) in Canberra, Australia, from January 13-16.

On January 18, the APPF Executive Committee Meeting approved the theme, agenda, and working programme of the 26th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-26) in Hanoi.

PSNews - 22 member parliamentary delegations (including Vietnam) with 355 international guests had registered for APPF-26 in Hanoi, said Nguyen Van Giau, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly at a conference on January 17.

The 26th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-26) will build on the success of the 25th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, further advancing the Vietnam National Assembly’s standing in the international arena.

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan affirmed Vietnam’s readiness to welcome regional parliamentarians to the 26th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-26) while attending a rehearsal on January 16 in preparation for the important event.

Vietnam and Chile issued a joint statement on the occasion of the State visit to Vietnam by Chilean President Michelle Bachelet Jeria from November 8-9, which stressed the importance of bilateral comprehensive partnership established by leaders of the two countries in May 2007.
