Bird flu outbreak recorded in northern Vietnam
The northern province of Thai Binh has scrambled to stamp out a bird flu outbreak after the A/H5N8 virus strain was detected at a poultry farm in the locality.
PSNews – This is the first report of H5N8 poultry-to-human infection despite the virus having been circulating in poultry and wild birds since 2016. The Department of Animal Health of Vietnam is going to increase testing for H5N8 virus in the national avian influenza surveillance programme starting from 2021.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Animal Health Department has declared that all provinces and cities nationwide are free of avian flu, with no new outbreak detected.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak and relevant authorities destroyed 3,475 ducks and 90 chickens infected with the A/H5N1 virus.
