Vietnam has been nominated by Asian-Pacific countries in the UN as the only candidate from the region to a non-permanent seat on the United Nations (UN) Security Council for the 2020-2021 tenure, with the vote slated for June 7.

Over the past 15 years, the Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG) has work with other Vietnamese and Chinese forces to materialise the Agreement on Fishery Cooperation in the Gulf of Tonkin between the two countries. 

Vietnam has made constructive contributions to the 40th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council which took place in Geneva, Switzerland from February 25 to March 22.

Vietnamese Ambassador Duong Chi Dung stressed the need for the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to continue fostering constructive cooperation and dialogue when attending the UNHRC’s 39th session which closed in Geneva on September 28.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong has urged the Vietnamese community in Russia to continue contributing to the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Russia. 

The Vietnamese State has implemented a number of policies to encourage overseas Vietnamese to contribute to national development as much as they wish.
