A haul of 700 samples of Covivac, a Vietnamese produced COVID-19 vaccine, have been sent to Canada to have its effectiveness evaluated, according to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Dinh Thiem, director of the Center for Clinical Trials under the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.

131 volunteers from the communes of Minh Lang, Viet Hung and Bach Thuan in Vu Thu District, Thai Binh Province have received the first shot of Vietnam's homegrown COVIVAC COVID-19 vaccine during its second phase clinical trials.

More than 60 volunteers are poised to be given the first jab of the locally-produced COVIVAC vaccine on August 18 following it entering the second phase of clinical trials.

The nations has finalized the first stage of human trials on COVIVAC, the second locally-produced novel coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine, with this phase featuring the participation of 120 volunteers.

A total of six volunteers on April 12 were given their second shot of the domestically-produced novel coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine known as COVIVAC, which is being developed by the Institute of Vaccines and Medical Biologicals (IVAC).

An additional 30 volunteers participating in human trials for Covivac, the second locally-produced novel coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine, are due to be given the first shot on March 23 and 25.

Covivac, Vietnam’s homegrown vaccine, is effective against the two new strains of the SARS-CoV-2 detected in the UK and South Africa, according to Dr. Duong Huu Thai, Director of the Institute of Vaccines and Medical Biologicals (IVAC).
