An action month for labour safety and hygiene this year will be held in May, with the launching ceremony to be organized in Quang Nam province on May 4.

Vietnam pledges coordination with and hopes to receive further support from the World Bank (WB) and other partners to improve food hygiene and safety, said Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam at an online conference held in Hanoi on April 18.

Hanoi capital city has focused on building standard shopping and culinary establishments serving tourists in order to well control the quality of goods and services as well as food safety and environmental hygiene.

Inspections of mooncakes, jams, candies and other foods for the Mid-Autumn Festival will be enhanced nationwide at the request of the Ministry of Health’s Food Safety and Hygiene Department. 

Hanoi’s Department of Health will deploy mobile food testing labs to deter unsafe food sold at restaurants and street vendors where spring festivals take place, Nguyen Khac Hien, director of the department, has said.

Ho Chi Minh City has carried out drastic measures to ensure food safety and hygiene, but this is a long-term fight against unsafe food, said Vice Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Thu.
