The National Ethics Committee in Biomedical Research under the Ministry of Health on September 19 issued a press statement on its conclusions of a meeting one day earlier during which it looked into the mid-term phase 3 trial’s results of homegrown COVID-19 vaccine Nano Covax.

A local research team working on developing Nano Covax, a homegrown COVID-19 vaccine, have unveiled the promising outcomes of the mid-term phase 3a clinical trials.

The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Science and Technology met on July 22 to examine Nanogen’s proposal to approve its COVID-19 vaccine Nano Covax for emergency use in Vietnam following the encouraging results of its human clinical trials, phase III.

As many as 1,700 volunteers have registered to participate in the third stage of human trials for the domestically-produced Nano Covax vaccine, with tests scheduled to begin in June.

The first 33 volunteers on February 26 received injections of the home-grown Nano Covax vaccine in the second phase of human trial.
