#new infections

A total 20,076 new COVID-19 infections were recorded on April 15 across 61 cities and provinces nationwide, marking a fall of 2,936 from the previous day, the Ministry of Health reported.

For the first time since the COVID-19 disease broke out, the daily number of new infections of the coronavirus in Vietnam has surpassed the 29,000 case mark, hitting 29,414 on February 14.

The Health Ministry confirmed the detection of 26,487 COVID-19 cases on February 11, an increase of 448 cases compared to the previous day, pushing the national infection tally since the start of the pandemic to over 2.45 million cases.

A further 15,954 people across 61 localities nationwide were found to have tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, a rise of 186 from figures on the previous day, the Ministry of Health reported on January 26.

Vietnam had no COVID-19 cases to report on June 5 morning, marking it 50 days in a row without new infections in the community, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Mainland China reported dwindling new infections on Wednesday in a global coronavirus pandemic, and started to publish the daily change in cases that are free of symptoms, although the latter could complicate the picture of trends in the disease.
