The heaviest monsoon rains to lash India in 25 years have killed more than 1,600 people since June, government data showed on Tuesday, as authorities battled floods in two northern states and muddy waters swirled inside a major city.

Typhoon Mangkhut is forecast to weaken into a tropical depression over September 17, but will still cause heavy downpours in many areas in northern and southern Vietnam, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF).

PSNews – The Damry (Storm No.12) landed in Dak Lak province on November 4, and swept the two districts of M’Drak and Krong Bong.

More lakes in Hanoi have been filled for housing, while the construction of proper water drainage systems has not received sufficient attention, which has caused more serious floods for the city after downpours.

The northern region, including Hanoi, is forecast to see heavy rains in several days to come, according to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.
