The U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam on January 23 joined Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Minister of National Defense, in witnessing the signing of a Memorandum of Intent to begin the process of dioxin contamination remediation at Bien Hoa Air Base area.

On November 9, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Thomas A. Shannon Jr. joined Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Phuong Nam, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the People’s Army of Vietnam, in a ceremony marking the successful joint project to remediate dioxin at the Danang Airport.
