Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam on November 5 asked southern localities to step up COVID-19 vaccinations to ensure 100% of residents aged 18 and above will receive their first shot at the earliest in an attempt to halt the spread of the virus there.
A number of localities in the southern region reopened business and social activities on September 15 following the COVID-19 outbreak being brought under control, with local authorities starting to ease social distancing requirements.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired an online meeting on August 19 night between permanent Government members and authorities of Ho Chi Minh City and adjacent Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Long An provinces which are witnessing complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic.
