Around 40,000 Vietnamese people go abroad to study each year, a 2.5-fold increase compared to the figure before 2013, Pham Quang Hung, Director of the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET)’s International Cooperation Department, announced on October 31.

They sometimes reach rich local families, give them false information and persuade the parents to send their children to other countries, even though their children still have not met the admission requirements of international universities. 

The number of approved visas for Vietnamese students to study in New Zealand in the past 12 months rose by 15% compared to the same period last year, according to Education New Zealand (ENZ), New Zealand’s government agency for international education.
