As many as 12 people have been injured in an accident which saw a passenger bus flip over on September 19 morning in the central province of Ha Tinh, according to details given by local police.

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security’s leaders urged the Traffic Police Department to collaborate with the Binh Thuan Provincial Police Department to deal with the serious traffic accident that killed 8 in the locality on July 21.

A total of 57 people were killed on the roads during the National Day holidays, according to traffic officials.

A total of 2,822 traffic accidents occurred across Vietnam in the last two months from December 16, 2018 to February 15, 2019, leaving 1,356 deaths and 2,169 injured, according to reports from the Ministry of Public Security and the Vietnam Maritime Administration.

Statistics from the Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security show that in the week ending on February 4, the whole country saw 214 traffic accidents which took the lives of 135 people and injured 189 others.

The number of traffic accidents caused by cars rose sharply nationwide over the last nine months, accounting for 33 percent of total cases, according to the National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC).

Losses caused by traffic accidents in Vietnam amount to 50 trillion VND (over 2.12 billion USD) each year, equivalent to 30 percent of budget spending on education, or 1. 5 million people going without income for the whole year. 

The Ministry of Transport reports that the country saw 7,490 traffic accidents with 3,476 deaths and 5,762 injuries over the first five months of the year.

A total of 76 traffic accidents occurred across the country from April 28 – 30, killing 52 people and injured 46 others, according to a report from the Ministry of Public Security. 

Traffic accidents have killed 2,788 people and injured more than 4,600 others in the first four months of the year, according to the National Traffic Safety Committee.

The shocking traffic accident that claimed 13 lives last weekend in the Central Highlands, and several such mishaps of late, underscore a failure to check rash driving at many levels.  

More than 6,500 people were admitted to hospitals in HCM City over the recent four-day holiday because of traffic accidents, physical fights, and food poisoning, among other reasons, according to the city’s Health Department.

Road traffic accidents claimed nearly 9,000 lives in Vietnam last year and caused tens of thousands of injuries, according to a report by the National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC).
