#United Nations General Assembly

On September 5, the United Nations General Assembly (UN) wrapped up the 77th Session and opened the 78th Session in New York, with the High-level Week taking place from September 19-26 with the participation of heads of state and government of 193 member countries.

Vietnam called for national, regional and global efforts to promote sustainable development at the Economic and Financial Committee’s meeting of the United Nations General Assembly’s 77th session on October 3-4.

President Tran Dai Quang and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani reached high consensus on measures to tighten political ties between Vietnam and Iran, while expanding their collaboration in economy, culture and science-technology.

In his address to the high-level of the United Nations General Assembly to commemorate the 30^th Anniversary of the Declaration on the right to development  on 22^nd September, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh underlined the great efforts Vietnam were making to creat an enabling enviroment for the most vulnerable groups and ensure equal development opportunities for all Vietnamese. 

US President Barack Obama has announced a pledge by 50 nations to take in 360,000 refugees from war-torn countries this year.
