The elevation of bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership shows that Vietnam and Canada increasingly view each other not simply as trading partners, but as long-term partners in addressing economic, technological and regional challenges.
The Action Plan aims to translate commitments and orientations reached by high-ranking leaders into specific programmes and projects, particularly in priority areas.
The top Vietnamese leader said the two countries' decision to elevate their relations to a Strategic Partnership comes as a result of more than five decades of friendship and cooperation, reflecting their commitment to jointly investing in the future.
“Vietnam is an important partner for Canada in the Indo-Pacific, as well as a valued partner within APEC and the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF)," according to a statement issued by the Office of the Governor General of Canada.
Since the two countries established their Comprehensive Partnership framework in 2017, bilateral relations have developed steadily across a wide range of areas.
