The issuance of the national plan on the implementation of the Glasgow Leaders’ Declaration on Forests and Land Use is another step taken by the Vietnamese Government towards achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

Scientific research and technology transfer for the forestry sector in the 2021-2030 period will focus on the hybridisation of new varieties, giving priority to planting high-yield, good-quality and pest-and-disease preventive capable tree varieties, said Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Ha Cong Tuan. 

Vietnam has over 14.41 million hectares of forest, of which, standardized area is over 13.71 million hectares, with forest coverage ratio of 41.45%, according to latest statistics announced by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
