The Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) has produced 24.58 million tonnes of coal in the first eight months of the year, accounting for 68.3 percent of the annual plan.

Hanoi - Vietnam’s coal sector is facing decreasing exports and competition from imported coal, Nguyen Khac Tho, deputy director of the General Directorate of Energy under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said yesterday at a conference in Hanoi on coal imports and ensuring national energy security.
