Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh put forward three initiatives at the fourth Asia-Pacific Water Summit in Japan on April 23, in order to effectively manage, exploit and use water resources in a sustainable and equitable manner.

The Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre has launched a Japanese-funded water management project worth 266,170 USD.

Water supply experts have emphasised the need to deal with water issue in the entire Mekong River basin that comprises six countries along the river in order to ensure the sustainable use and exploitation of water resources and environmental protection.
