Armenia attaches great importance to developing cooperation with Vietnam

Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan has affirmed that Armenia always places importance on developing cooperation with Vietnam, an important and reliable partner.

He made this affirmation at a reception for Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia, concurrently Armenia, Dang Minh Khoi, who presented his credentials on September 16 at the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Armenia in Yerevan.

At the reception held following the credential presentation ceremony, Ambassador Khoi expressed his great honour and responsibility for serving as Ambassador, especially with Armenia about to celebrate its National Day on September 21.

The Vietnamese diplomat conveyed the best wishes of the Vietnamese Party and State leaders to their Armenian counterparts and all people of Armenia ahead of the occasion.

He also applauded the joint efforts made by the two sides in order to maintain and develop the strong traditional relationship, hold regular political consultations, and enhance all economic and trade interactions during the course of 30 years since the original establishment of diplomatic relations.

The Ambassador also introduced several Vietnamese achievements made over recent years, especially in the fields of economics, trade, investment, and tourism, adding that the nation' various achievements are partly thanks to the co-operation and help of international friends, including Armenia.

In response, the Armenian President assessed that the two countries have always enjoyed a good traditional friendship relationship inherited from the Soviet era and expressed how impressed he has been at Vietnam's miraculous economic development after more than 35 years of pursuing the Doi Moi (Renewal) process. In addition, the Armenian leader told of his appreciation for the role and prestige of Vietnam within the international arena.

He expressed his belief that Ambassador Khoi can effectively promote the friendly co-operative relations between the two countries.

After the presentation of credentials, Ambassador Khoi held a host of meetings withmeetings with Armenian Economic Minister Vahan Kerobyan and National Assembly Vice President Hakob Arshakyan.

During the course of the working sessions, both sides discussed issues of mutual concern and agreed to strengthen economic-trade-investment ties in line with the sound traditional relationship between the two countries.

This comes after Ambassador Khoi held a working session on September 15 with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Mnatsakan Sararyan to discuss a range of measures aimed at fostering close relations and co-ordinate the implementation of foreign activities between the two nations moving forward.
