Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung, Permanent Deputy Head of the Government’s Steering Committee for Human Rights, chaired the workshop.

At the workshop, delegates considered that the global and regional situation continues to leave negative impacts on Vietnam while emerging challenges directly threaten socio-economic development achievements of the country.

In that context, Vietnam is trying to overcome all difficulties and challenges to maintain a growth momentum, creating a basis to maintain social security, and achieve the goal of ensuring human rights.

Over the past time, Vietnam has well played its role as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2023-2025 term, left good impressions by giving initiatives, effectively implementing international commitments on human rights as well as obtaining large achievements in protecting human rights and promoting the practice of human rights.

Vietnam’s achievements in ensuring human rights have been recognized and highly appreciated by the international community.

Notably, at its recent 57th regular session, the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) adopted Vietnam's Universal Periodic Review (UPR) cycle IV report.

Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung praised the members of the Government’s Steering Committee for Human Rights as well as Steering Committees for Human Rights of localities for their outstanding achievements over the past time, especially in promoting the practice of human rights at the grassroots level.

The Deputy Minister underlined that the country’s great effort to protect and promote human rights had benefited Vietnam’s international integration process.

In fact, the local-level Steering Committee for Human Rights has changed their mindset and methods of ensuring and promote the practice of human rights at the grassroots level, considering human rights protection a key task of the localities.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung also stressed the need to continually renovate the method of disseminating information on human rights protection, saying that the country’s achievements in human rights protection should be promoted through people-to-people diplomacy as well as in cyberspace.
