Cambodian PM expressed his thanks to Vietnam’s sacrifices for Cambodia

PSNews-Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen expressed his deep gratitude to Vietnam for its shedding blood in his country and helping Cambodia escape the genocidal regime of Pol Pot, and thanked Vietnam for successfully organizing his visit to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Cambodia's national salvation.

Following a series of activities of Cambodian PM Samdech Techo Hun Sen in Vietnam, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his Cambodian counterpart had a meeting, exchanging measures to promote bilateral cooperation.

In a friendly, sincere, open and trustworthy atmosphere, the two PMs exchanged frankly specific contents of cooperation in various areas, including economics, defense, culture, education and training.

They also agreed to facilitate investment and trade in both goods and services between the two countries, promote coordination at regional and international forums; propose specific measures for cooperation to prevent terrorism, transnational crime, smuggling and other emerging security issues in order to ensure peace and stability in the region as well as in each country.

PM Phuc spoke highly of defense cooperation between the two countries, suggesting that Cambodia continues taking due care and directing concerned Cambodian agencies and unites to support the Vietnamese side in carrying out search and repatriation of remains of fallen Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed themselves in Cambodia for the resuscitation of the country and people.

The Vietnamese PM also recognized and appreciated the progress in the land border demarcation and landmark planting between the two countries, suggesting the two sides negotiate on solutions to the remaining border issues and close cooperate in managing the shared border to build for a border of peace, stability, cooperation and sustainable development.

PM Hun Sen agreed with his Vietnamese counterpart’s proposals, affirming that he will instruct Cambodian involved agencies to well deal with issues relating to repatriation of Vietnamese soldiers’ remains, borderline and the overseas Vietnamese community.

He again expressed his great gratitude for Vietnam’s enormous support for Cambodia in the past and at president.He also thanked Vietnam for the successful organization of this important visit to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the organization of Cambodian Front for National Salvation.

PM Hun Sen warmly congratulated the great achievements that the Government and people of Vietnam have gained over the years and appreciated the practical and effective contributions of enterprises and investors of Vietnam in Cambodia to the country’s socio-economic development, and the improvement of Cambodian people’s material and spiritual lives and social welfare.

At the meeting, the two sides reached consensus on measures to intensify bilateral friendship and cooperation in the time ahead.

The same day, the Cambodian Government leader returned home, concluding his trip to Vietnam.
