The Public Security Central Party Committee in collaboration with the Central Economic Committee held a national-level conference on December 21 to summarize 5 years of implementing Directive No. 12-CT/TW issued on January 5, 2017 by the Politburo on strengthening the Party's leadership position in ensuring economic security in the socialist-oriented market economy and international economic integration (Directive No.12).

The meeting also aimed to roll out Directive No. 24-CT/TW issued on July 13, 2023 by the Politburo on firmly protecting national security in the context of comprehensive and extensive international integration (Directive No. 24) .

During the meeting, delegates objectively and comprehensively evaluated the economic security situation and results of the implementation of Directive No. 12.

Further, delegates thoroughly studied and grasped Directive No. 24, and showed their strong determination and high sense of responsibility to effectively execute the directive.

They also suggested uniting and mobilizing the entire Party, the entire armed forces, the entire political system and the entire people to firmly protect national security in the context of comprehensive and extensive international integration.

Speaking at the conference, Standing Member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee Truong Thi Mai highly valued the good results achieved in 5 years of implementing Directive No. 12, emphasizing that the Public Security Forces continue to play its core role in ensuring economic security; proactively prevent and resolutely fight plots and acts of sabotage by hostile, reactionary forces on the economic front as well as economic crimes.

Additionally, the forces should continue take the lead in the national digital transformation process, creating a favorable environment for socio-economic development while boosting coordination with agencies, branches, Party committees and local authorities in ensuring economic security as well as scrutinizing agencies, ministries and localities’ planning schemes, projects, socio-economic development plans, ensuring that they meet all requirements for economic security.

Delivering the concluding speech at the conference, Minister To Lam once again highlighted the results achieved in implementing Directive No. 12 over the past five years, saying, "Economic security has been ensured and become sustainable while risks have been well controlled and minimized to zero.” He continued to say, the Public Security Forces in coordination with other sectors and people have drastically combated economic crimes, creating a safe, healthy and secure environment for investment and business, helping Vietnam's economy continues to grow, a bright spot in the context of many economic difficulties and security challenges in the world due to the negative impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, fierce competition between major countries.
