Politburo member, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Commander of the People's Armed Forces and Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council Nguyen Xuan Phuc, visited and worked with the Economic Security Department of the Ministry of Public Security, on the morning of August 18, in Hanoi.
Politburo member, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security General To Lam as well as representatives of leaders of agencies under the Ministry of Public Security and leaders and staff of the Department of Economic Security welcomed the State President.
Director of the Department of Economic Security Lieutenant General Nguyen Dinh Thuan briefed the State President on the economic security force’s task performance, stating that it was established according to Decree No. 74 signed by Deputy Minister of Public Security Tran Quoc Hoan on May 13, 1953.
Through changes in its organization, the Economic Security Department is a unit directly under the Ministry of Public Security, with its functions of assisting the Minister of Public Security to lead the economic security force in implementing all aspects of economic security and internal political security as well as ensuring economic security in the designated areas, targets, organizations and economic fields.
For its achievements in the past years, the Economic Security Department of the Ministry of Public Security was awarded the title “Hero of the People's Armed Forces” in 2013, and other noble awards by the Party, State, Ministry of Public Security.
Speaking at the meeting, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc recognized, highly appreciated and praised the outstanding achievements and feats of arms obtained by the People's Public Security Forces in general, and the Department of Economic Security in particular.
Regarding its tasks in the coming time, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked the Economic Security Force to effectively perform its function of advising the Party and State on ensuring economic security as well as completing mechanisms, policies and laws on economic security.
The force should effectively implement the guidelines of the Party, policies and laws of the State on economic security while preventing, detecting and promptly handle violations of the laws on economic security, threats to economic security.
