The statement of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam written: "In view of the friendly relations between Japan and Viet Nam, the Government of Japan wishes to advise Their Majesties to pay an official visit Viet Nam this year”.

The itinerary of the visit will be finalized based upon consultations with the Governments of both countries. Their Majesties are scheduled to leave Tokyo on 28th February for approximately one week overall.
Additionally, following the demise of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of the Kingdom of Thailand on 13th October, 2016, Their Majesties will travel to Thailand on their way back from Viet Nam in order to pay a condolence call.
