Talking to former US Secretary of State John Kerry, PM Phuc hailed his great efforts to promote bilateral ties between Vietnam and the US and promised to direct relevant agencies to consider Kerry’s proposal for a Vietnamese partner to set up a joint-venture that will build a wind power mill in the country.

The Vietnamese Government always regards renewable energy as a priority field, Phuc told his guest while hoping that Kerry and partners will make greater contributions to Vietnam-US relations. 

For his part, the former US Secretary of State said the delegation includes those who previously urged the US to lift its embargo against Vietnam and foster partnership between the two nations.

Vietnam is facing two major challenges -climate change impacts in the Mekong River Delta and the shortage of power for development, he said, adding that he and his partners including banks and international organizations aspire to help Vietnam develop clean energy sources. He also showed a desire to receive support from the Vietnamese Government, ministries, agencies and localities in this regard. 

The Vietnamese government leader pledged to offer the best possible conditions for US businesses to achieve success in their operations in Vietnam.

Receiving US former Ambassador to Vietnam Pete Peterson, PM Phuc welcomed his guest’s return to Vietnam, and also introduced a number of financially strong corporations who are interested in operating the Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway project.

Peterson showed his delight at the growing ties between the two countries, especially after the US’ removal of trade embargo against Vietnam. He said that it is a great honour for him to serve as stint as the first US Ambassador to Vietnam.

There are some investors showing their interest in the operation of the Hanoi-Hai Phong expressway , he said while promised his best efforts to seek financially strong and highly experienced corporations to invest in the project.

PM Phuc expressed his appreciation for Peterson’s thorough understanding about Vietnam and asked him to send documents to Vietnamese competent agencies to scrutinize his initiatives.

He said he would direct the Ministry of Transport to work together with relevant agencies on studying specific plans for submission to the PM and Government for approval.
