Vietnam will celebrate its great national unity festival on November 18. Activities are underway around Vietnam to tighten the bonds between neighbors, villages, and communities and promote national unity.

A celebration of the great national unity bloc and the 86th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) was held in Phat Tich commune of Tien Du district, Bac Ninh province, on November 13 and attended by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi  Kim Ngan was present at a similar event in Ben Tre province. Hoang Dang Quang, Secretary of the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee, attended in a festival in Dong Hoi, where he encouraged the locals to overcome problems caused by recent sea pollution.

“Though being affected by sea environment degradation, the locals managed to overcome difficulties and maintain security and stability in the locality. We need to continue to compensate them for damage caused by the incident and make the process as transparent, fair and objective as possible”, said Mr Quang.

The festival brought the people closer together and encouraged them to join national development movements launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front. At the festival in Nghi Hoa ward, Cua Lo township, Nghe An province, local citizens reviewed the movement to enhance great national unity in new rural development and urban civilization.

Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue called on the local communities to uphold the tradition of solidarity and fulfill socio-economic plans. Mr Hue said “President Ho Chi Minh once said: solidarity, solidarity, great solidarity, success, success, great success. I sincerely hope that local people will work together and join the movements toward local and national development.”

The great national unity festival is a significant part of Vietnam’s efforts to strengthen the people’s solidarity.
