International friends share thoughts about late President Tran Dai Quang

Ambassadors of international countries and representatives of international organizations wrote down their significant thoughts about late President Tran Dai Quang in the funeral notebook when paying last respects to him at the National Funeral Hall in Hanoi on September 26.  

As one of the very first international friends attending at the National Funeral Hall,  Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Konstantin Vnukov left in the funeral notebook a touching paragraph about HE Tran Dai Quang. He wrote that on behalf of Russian Embassy to Vietnam, I would like to express sincere condolences on the passing of President Tran Dai Quang.

Through his devoted activities for the peaceful environment and interest of Fatherland and Vietnamese people, he deserves the deep respect in Vietnam and receives prestigious reputation abroad. He left a great personal contribution to the consolidation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Russia. Beautiful memories of President Tran Dai Quang live forever in the hearts of millions of Russians, he added.

Calling HE Tran Dai Quang as a great friend of the United States, Ambassador Daniel J. Kritenbrink wrote: "On behalf of the United States missions to Vietnam, I would like to express our sincere condolences on the passing of President Tran Dai Quang. Our sympathies go out to his family, especially Madam nguyen Thi Hien and the people of Vietnam at this sad time.

President Tran Dai Quang was a great friend of the United States. His hosting of President Donald J. Trump's historic state visit to Hanoi in November 2017 helped advance the U.S-Vietnam Comprehensive Partnership to new height on the basis of mutual understanding, shared interests and a common desire to promote peace, cooperation, prosperity and security in the Indo-Pacific region. We honor his legacy and mourn  his loss alongside his family and our friends, the people of Vietnam.

Kamal Malhotra, United Nations Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative to Vietnam said that President Tran Dai Quang was a strong supporter of multilateralism, Vietnam's role in global peacekeeping and the UN Agenda 2030. May his soul rest in peace.

Michael Croft, Representatives of the United Nations of Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to Vietnam shared: "I wish to express our sorrow at the passing on of a true friend of the Organization and the values it stands for. Throughout his tenure as President, he constantly advocated for Vietnamese culture and values which have now become so well known and appreciated on the world state.

Under his leadership and guidance, UNESCO-Vietnam relations have houri-shed and their future looks to be one of the greater scale and relevance thanks to his support. Wish you, we mourn the loss of a patriot, a great man of service to his country and a friend".

Many delegations of foreign parties, States and Governments, and representatives of international organisations in Vietnam came to pay last respects to President Tran Dai Quang at the National Funeral Hall in Hanoi on September 26.

The memorial service will be held at 7:30am on September 27 at the National Funeral Hall. The burial ceremony will take place from 3:30pm on the same day in the President's native land in Quang Thien commune, Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province.

Respect-paying and memorial ceremonies for President Tran Dai Quang are also being held at the Thong Nhat Hall in Ho Chi Minh City and in village 13, Quang Thien commune.

The nation is observing a two-day national mourning on September 26 and 27.
