Minister of Public Security To Lam meets voters in Bac Ninh province

PSNews – Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, and other members of the Bac Ninh provincial National Assembly (NA) delegation on September 30 hosted a meeting with voters of Phat Tich commune, Tien Du district, Bac Ninh province.

At the meeting, Ms. Tran Thi Hang, Deputy Head of the Bac Ninh provincial NA delegation briefed voters on the outcomes of the 14th NA’s 3rd session and results of the authorities’ handling of questions raised by local voters; and informed voters of the preparation and agenda for the 4th session of the 14th NA.

Specifically, the 4th NA session is scheduled to review and adopt 6 bills, of which 2 bills have been sent to the NA delegation of Bac Ninh province for consideration.

In addition, the NA will consider about 9 draft laws. At the same time, lawmakers will carefully discuss the implementation of the socio-economic development plan of 2017 and decide on a plan for 2018; scrutinize the report on the state budget in 2017, and then adopt State budget estimates and State budget allocation plan for 2018.

The voters of Phat Tich commune raised various questions, underscoring difficulties and shortcomings in local economic development, order and security situation; and proposals on centralized waste treatment sites in the province.

The voters also made various recommendations and suggestions to the provincial NA delegation. They considered that to the NA should discuss thoroughly the draft law on cyber security before passing it as the law can serve as a solid legal basis to deal with acts of taking advantage of the Internet to undermine the national security.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Tu Quynh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People Committee clarified a number of issues related to Bac Ninh province. Mr. Quynh also briefed voters on the socio-economic development of the Bac Ninh province in the first 9 months of the years.

Minister To Lam, representing the Bac Ninh provincial NA’s delegation, expressed his pleasure at the fruitful results of local socio-economic development and the building of the new sustainable rural model in Phat Tich commune.

Minister To Lam vowed that all voters’ opinions were noted by the delegation and will be voiced at the next NA’s working session.

He also emphasized that, in the first nine months, Vietnam's economy has seen positively developments when the macro-economy has been stable and inflation has been well controlled. National security and defense has been maintained while external relations have been strengthened.

According to Minister To Lam, the Public Security Forces have attained many outstanding achievements in preventing and fighting against all kind of crimes. However, law violations are still on the rise in many localities while traffic order and safety still remain a matter of public concern.

Minister To Lam said that the Ministry of Public Security is implementing a project on reducing the number of staff, ensuring a streamlined but efficient organization.

Affirming that mass mobilization is given a priority by the Public Security Forces, Minister To Lam stressed that the Ministry of Public Security is working on a plan to re-organize the Commune-level Police force, aiming to better resolve problems at the local level.
