Minister To Lam examines judicial reform in Dak Lak

PSNews - Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security, Member of the Central Steering Committee on Judicial Reform, on December 19 led a delegation to work with the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee on outcomes of the local judicial reform.

At the working session, the Provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board of Dak Lak briefed Senior Lieutenant General To Lam and delegation on results of the province’s implementation of the judicial reform from 2016 to mid-2018.

The report read that the provincial judicial organization and force were consolidated and improved in terms of capabilities and work efficiency. All activities relating to investigation, prosecution, adjudication, and enforcement of judgment were conducted in line with the prescribed procedures and regulations, ensuring democracy, interests and legal rights of involved persons or organizations. 

Over the past time, the provincial courts at all levels have tried 8,334 cases in the spirit of judicial reform. Solicitors participated in 945 cases to defend and protect the legal rights and interests of the involved persons or organizations. The State Legal Assistance Centre provided legal aid for 4,550 persons.

Speaking at the event, Minister of Public Security To Lam praised the good achievements obtained by Dak Lak Province in judicial reform. He also suggested that the Dak Lak provincial justice sector should make a breakthrough in re-organizing its structure while actively dispatching its personnel to the grassroots-level; and coordinate closely with relevant agencies to improve effectiveness in the fight against crimes and law offences.

In addition, the Minister of Public Security asked the Dak Lak authorities at all levels to resolutely prevent wrongdoings and law violations in judicial activities.

Minister To Lam and delegation noted representatives’ recommendations and opinions, and pledged to submit them to the Politburo, National Assembly and Government to complete the judicial documents system, meeting requirements of judicial work in both short-term and long-term.
