Minister To Lam receives outgoing Japanese Ambassador

General To Lam, Vietnamese Minister of Public Security, on March 23 received outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam Umeda Kunio as he paid a farewell visit to the Ministry of Public Security before completing his term of office in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Minister To Lam emphasized that, over the past years, the Vietnam-Japan extensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia as well as the close cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Japanese National Public Safety Commission and National Police Agency have been strongly promoted with practical achievements.

The host congratulated the outgoing Japanese Ambassador and thanked him for his efforts during his successful term of office in Vietnam.

According to Minister Lam, the Ambassador has made great contributions to promoting the Vietnam-Japan extensive strategic partnership, promoted the negotiations and signing of important free trade agreements, including the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).

Minister To Lam hoped that Mr. Umeda Kunio would continue to foster the effective cooperation and good friendship between the two countries in general, between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Japanese law enforcement agencies in particular for peace and stability in the region and the world.

Regarding the complicated COVID-19 situation, Minister To Lam affirmed that the Government of Vietnam in general and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in particular are always ready to support and share experience with Japan in preventing the disease.

Ambassador Umeda Kunio thanked Minister To Lam for the warm welcome and expressed his hope that the cooperation between Japan and Vietnam will further develop and reach more achievements in all spheres in the coming time. The guest also promised to connect the two sides and promote the bilateral partnership.
