Minister To Lam visits Thai Nguyen

General To Lam, Politburo’s Member and Minister of Public Security, and his entourage on January 19 paid a visit to Thai Nguyen province.

On the morning, the delegation worked with the Standing Board of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee.

According to leaders of the province, in 2021, Thai Nguyen's economic growth rate reached 6.51% and GRDP per capita is VND 95.1 million per year.

The industrial production of the province earned VND 844,000 billion, 7.7% higher than that of the previous year, while its total export value reached USD 28.85 billion, up by 17.9% over the same period last year.

In particular, the COVID-19 pandemic in Thai Nguyen is currently put under control, making the province a “safe zone” in the region.

On behalf of the Politburo, General To Lam praised the outstanding achievements made by the Party Committee, authorities and people of Thai Nguyen over the past time.

He believed that, with their revolutionary traditions, Thai Nguyen authorities and people will obtain more achievements in spite of any  difficulties, and  successfully implement the Resolution of the 20th Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Congress, thus contributing to building Thai Nguyen as a modern, industrialized economic hub in the Northern midland and mountainous region.

On behalf of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee, Secretary Nguyen Thanh Hai thanked General To Lam for his care for the province. She affirmed that the Party Committee and government of Thai Nguyen will draft their 2022 work plans based on General To Lam’s directions while trying their best to realize the resolutions of the 13th National Party Congress and the province’s 20th Party Congress.

* On the afternoon of the same day, General To Lam and the delegation visited and worked with leaders of the Thai Nguyen provincial police.

Senior Colonel Bui Duc Hai, Director of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Police Department briefed the delegates on the working results of the provincial police in 2021, saying that the local police have overcome all difficulties and made efforts to successfully complete the targets and tasks assigned by leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and the province.

Notably, the Thai Nguyen police safeguarded major political, socio-economic events in the province while coordinating with relevant units to effectively implement preventive measures against the COVID-19 pandemic.

They also effectively fight various types of crime, thereby reducing the crime rate by 6.7% compared to 2020.

The provincial police have paid due attention to complete the National Population Database and chip-based e-ID card projects and was ranked by the Ministry of Public Security among the 10 provinces which early completed the two projects.

In his speech at the meeting, Minister To Lam asked the  Thai Nguyen provincial police to attach importance to building the Party organization and the clean, strong, professional, elite and modernized provincial police force that meets the task requirements. He also requested them to pay more attention to the communal police force.

The Minister also suggested the provincial police to promote administrative reforms and carry out level-3, level-4 online public services for the people in line with their functions and tasks.

In the immediate future, the Thai Nguyen provincial police should proactively grasp the security situations and conduct the intensive campaign to suppress crimes during the Lunar New Year 2022 under the directions of the Ministry of Public Security.

* During their visit to Thai Nguyen province, Minister To Lam and the delegation visited the Phu Son 4 Prison, the Military Region 1 Command and the Thai Nguyen Central Hospital.

The delegation also visited and gave gifts to ethnic minority people in Phu Dinh commune, Dinh Hoa district and workers of Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen Co., Ltd.
