More condolences over President Tran Dai Quang’s passing

Leaders of foreign countries, communist parties and international organisations continued to extend condolences over the passing of President Tran Dai Quang to leaders of the Vietnamese Party, State and Government, people, and the President’s family.

Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn cabled a message of condolences to Acting President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, saying President Quang’s passing is a great loss as the nation lost a leader who had dedicated his life for the stability and prosperity of Vietnam and its people.

The Acting President also received condolence messages from Queen Magrethe II of Denmark, King Harald V of Norway, and King of the Netherlands Willem-Alexander.

Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent a message of condolences to Vietnamese PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc. In the message, he wrote that President Tran Dai Quang is a distinct politician and a good friend of India, saying his passing is a huge loss of the Vietnamese Government and people as well as the Government and people of India. 

The Indian PM took note of the President’s contributions to deepening Vietnam-India friendship and cooperation. PM Modi said he has kept in mind his meeting with President Quang as part of his State visit to India last March.

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Asim of the Maldives respectively sent their condolences to PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.

Condolences from President of Seychelles Danny Faure were also extended to PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc. Condolences from communist parties worldwide were sent to the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and its General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

General Secretary Trong received a condolence letter from Secretary Ngemela Lubinga of Tanzania's ruling party Chama Cha Mapinduzi. 

A similar message from secretary for external affairs Victor Manuel Lucas Rauz of the Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain’s Central Committee was sent to the Vietnamese Party chief.

The Central Committees of the Portuguese Communist Party and the Mexican Communist Party, cabled messages of condolences, while General Secretary of Mexico’s Labour Party Alberto Anaya Gutierrez sent a condolence letter to the CPV Central Committee.

Vojtech Filip, Vice Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of Czech Republic and Chairman of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia, delivered a condolence letter to leaders of the Vietnamese Party and Government and people.

A similar letter from Chairman of the Vatan Partisi (Turkish Patriotic Party) Dogu Perincek was sent to the CPV and Vietnamese people.

President of the World Peace Council Socorro Gomes cabled a message of condolences to the Vietnamese Government and the Vietnam Peace Committee.

Foreign Minister of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif and Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme Achim Steiner sent their letter and message of condolences to Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.
