Upon meeting with representatives of IMC Krems, a private university of Austria that runs a range of co-operation activities with Vietnamese universities, the top Vietnamese legislator applauded its collaboration with Vietnamese education and training establishments.

He went on to express his desire that IMC Krems will continue to ramp up co-operation activities with Vietnamese universities in order to train human resources in sectors in which the nation has a strong demand for, such as business, digitalisation, health care, and science-technology.

Receiving Wolfgang Nestler, managing director of Christof Systems, NA Chairman Hue appreciated the company's solutions and products in terms of treating waste, especially medical waste, underlining Vietnamese interest in medical waste treatment solutions.

He therefore suggested that the firm work alongside Vietnamese relevant agencies in order to receive guidelines regarding waste treatment projects at health care facilities in the country.

Christof Systems is a waste treatment solution provider that recorded revenue of more than US$394 million in 2020 and supplied services to some Vietnamese partners in the 2000 to 2006 period.

As part of the occasion, Weforyou Group presented 30,000 N95 medical masks and 10,000 COVID-19 test kits to the nation.

NA Chairman Hue thanked Weforyou for the gifts, expressing his hope that the group will co-ordinate efforts alongside the Vietnamese Embassy in Austria, as well as relevant agencies, to carry out its projects in the country. This includes considering the possibility of investment in medical supplies production in the nation in the future.

The Vietnamese NA leader added his hopes that Austrian enterprises and partners will support the country by providing medical equipment serving pandemic prevention and control measures, while also assisting the nation in accelerating vaccinations against COVID-19.

The same day saw Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) Le Minh Hoan visit BIOMIN Research Center (BRC) in Tulln near Vienna.

The centre is run by DSM Group and is a world leading research facility on animal nutrition. It has developed a presence in the nation since 1995 and has invested in agricultural research centres in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Binh Duong with total capital of over US$30 million.

In a meeting held with Martin Eichtinger, the Lower Austrian State Government Member responsible for housing, labour, and international relations and leaders of the centre, Minister Hoan said that the Vietnamese side is keen to co-operate with world leading firms. Indeed, this is necessary in order to bridge the development gap in agriculture with the rest of the world, thus switching to an agriculture sector with a high ratio of knowledge, science, and technology, especially biotechnology, thereby dealing with problems caused by climate change.

Franz Waxenecker, managing director of BIOMIN, said that Vietnamese farmers continue to face plenty of challenges in terms of breeding, including issues in improving the health and productivity of livestock. Therefore, they should use natural and environmentally-friendly products in an effort to reduce dependence on antibiotics.

Since 1995, BIOMIN has sought solutions for agricultural and animal nutrition as a means of helping Vietnamese farmers deal with these issues, he stated.
