The visit came on the occasion of the Khmer people’s Chol Chnam Thmay or the Khmer New Year Festival.
Major General Le Tan Toi wished good health to Lieutenant General Son Cang and his family, extended New Year wishes to Most Venerable Thach Sok Xane, Vice Chairman of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), Head of the Executive Committee of the VBS in Tra Vinh, Chairman of the Association for Solidarity of Patriotic Buddhist Monks in Tra Vinh and other members of the Committee, monks and Buddhists at Ong Met Pagoda (Tra Vinh City) and Khmer ethnic people.
Major General Le Tan Toi highly valued the role of local monks and reputable Khmer persons in maintaining the movement of ensuring national security as well as in mobilizing the local people to implement guidelines and policies of the Party and laws of the State.
The chairman also highlighted their support for the local Party committees and authorities at all levels to effectively handle ethnic-related issues, and control the COVID-19 pandemic, contributing to ensuring security and order in the province.
The Chairman of the NA Defense and Security Committee hoped that local dignitaries, the management boards of pagodas and Buddha followers continue to encourage Khmer ethnic people in their localities to actively participate in the “All people protect the national security” and successfully prevent and control the pandemic during holidays and festivals.
Most Venerable Thach Sok Xane thanked the delegation for their care and promised to continue to promote the spirit of national unity, strictly abide by the law, observe the Dharma, and join hands with local police forces in ensuring security and safety, making contributions to the development of the province and country.
