Nam Dinh, Thai Binh provinces urged to focus on fighting corruption

PSNews – The second group of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-corruption on October 18 announced its conclusion of the inspection on the investigation, prosecution and trial of serious and complicated economic and corruption cases of public concern in Nam Dinh and Thai Binh provinces.

The working mission led by Politburo member and Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, who is also Deputy Chairman of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-corruption.

The inspection team also included Mr. Doan Hong Phong, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Nam Dinh Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Pham Van Sinh, Secretary of the Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee; and other leaders of the two northern provinces of Nam Dinh and Thai Binh.

At the working session, Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Nguyen Van Thuan, who is also Deputy Head of the second group of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-corruption, briefed the delegates on the draft report of the inspection on the investigation, prosecution and trial of serious and complicated economic and corruption cases of public concern in Nam Dinh and Thai Binh provinces.

The delegates gave some more opinions and ideas to the draft report, but agreed on the report’s main assessment of the situation of corruption and economic wrongdoings in the two localities, saying that corruption and economic crimes are increasingly complicated.

On behalf of the working mission, Minister To Lam Minister Lam highly appreciated the achievements made by the provincial Party Committee, the People's Committee and authorities at all levels of Nam Dinh and Thai Binh provinces in the fight against corruption and wastefulness.

To better and more effectively detect and handle corruption and waste cases in the coming time, Minister To Lam asked the Standing Boards of the Nam Dinh and Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee to direct their subordinates to  seriously implement the Resolution of the 3th Plenum of the Party Central Committee (Tenure 10)  on "Strengthening the Party leadership on anti-corruption work"; 

Resolution of the 4th Plenum of the Party Central Committee (Tenure 12) on Party building and rectification, preventing and holding back manifestations of degradation in politics ideology, morality and lifestyle as well as “self-evolution” and “self-transformation”; and the Politburo’s Directive No.50-CT/TW on enhancing the Party’s leadership over the detection and handling of corruption cases.

In addition, the Deputy Chairman of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-corruption urged the provincial Party Committee of Nam Dinh and Thai Binh provinces to focus on directing the judicial organs to strengthen their organizational apparatus, improving the quality and effectiveness of detecting and handling corruption and economic crimes.
