His statement was made during a recent media interview held ahead of a national foreign affairs conference on which is scheduled for December 14 in Hanoi. This marks the first time that the national foreign affairs conference has been held, Trung stated, adding that it is of significance to carry out the 13th National Party Congress’s Resolution. It also provides a forum to assess the achievements gained over the past 35 years of renewing the country’s foreign affairs, look back on the past to draw experience for future lessons, and identify any arising issues.Regarding Vietnamese foreign policy of independence and self-reliance for peace, friendship, co-operation, and development, multilateralisation, diversification and comprehensive international integration, Trung stressed that the country has yielded many positive results in its extensive international integration process.

By consistently maintaining an environment of peace, the nation has taken advantage of favourable conditions for socio-economic and cultural development, whilst also successfully handling challenges, including traditional and non-traditional security threats. With regard to Party diplomacy in the 2021 to 2026 tenure, Trung stated that the country advocates expanding the Party's external relations, firstly with neighbouring countries to create a political foundation and orientation for relations in all aspects, as well as with other political parties. This includes ruling parties and those participating in political life in countries as a means of gaining political support for State relations and people-to-people diplomacy.According to Trung, the function will see the national foreign affairs conference outline specific orientations, directions, and strategies for agencies, ministries, and branches in this field. Participants will also discuss a range of measures to promote effective co-ordination between agencies and localities, and between Party diplomacy, State diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy.
