People’s Security Force marks 75th Traditional Day

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a ceremony in the form of a videoconference connecting under-ministerial agencies and provincial-level police departments nationwide on July 12 in Hanoi to celebrate the 75th Traditional Day of the People's Security Force.

The event was chaired by Politburo Member and Minister of Public Security General To Lam. Politburo Member and State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, other Party and State’s leaders among distinguished guests attended the celebration at the MPS Headquarters.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang said, on July 12, 1946, the People's Security Force had a particularly outstanding victory when it discovered and destroyed an anti-revolutionary organization with a scheme to sabotage the revolution at No. 7 On Nhu Hau Street (now Nguyen Gia Thieu Street) in Hanoi. 

The force defeated an attempt by the Vietnam Nationalist Party in collaboration with the French colonialists to launch a coup d'état, contributing to protecting the revolutionary government.

The victory has marked an important historical milestone of the People's Security Force, and July 12 bas become the traditional day of the force.

Deputy Minister Quang stressed that over the past 75 years of fighting the enemies and building up force, the People’s Security Force has demonstrated its absolute loyalty to the Party and the Fatherland. It has closely coordinated with the People’s Army, other forces, sectors, and the people in foiling all sabotage plots and activities by reactionary and hostile forces, and accomplished the main task of protecting national security.

He also said the entire force has maintained its pure revolutionary nature, overcome all difficulties in performing duties, and been ingenious and courageous in fighting enemies. 

Today, security officers are all committed to upholding the force’s glorious heroic tradition, striving to overcome all difficulties and challenges, and dare sacrifice their lives to protect the nation and national security, the Deputy Minister affirmed.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State, State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc praised the efforts and feats of arms made by generations of security officers and soldiers over the past seven decades.

The State leader underlined some major missions for the force in ensuring national security in the new context, saying that in any circumstances, the People’s Security Force must always uphold the principle of putting all of its operations under the absolute and direct leadership of the Party, the command of the President, and the management of the Government. The security force should strictly and effectively implement the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws on national security protection.

State President Phuc asked the People’s Security Force to always hold the initiative in safeguarding national security, prepare plans for any possible scenarios, and prevent possible risks and destabilizing factors from afar, contributing positively to the country’s development.

He requested the People's Security Force to continue building a clean and strong force with good expertise, good scientific-technological knowledge, creativity, and bravery so as to firmly protect national security. Particularly, the People's Security Force should constantly strengthen their close ties with the people and consider that the people's support is a decisive factor for success in national security protection.

Additionally, the People's Security Force must grasp the security situation and exactly predict future situational developments in the region and the world so as to give strategic advice to the Party and State on policies to protect national interests, effectively carry out foreign affairs and boost socio-economic development of the country. It should pay due attention to detecting and foiling all sabotage plots and activities by hostile and reactionary forces while participating actively in regional and international security cooperation mechanisms.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister To Lam on behalf of the Ministry of Public Security and the entire People's Security Force thanked the State President for his care for the force. The Minister affirmed that the security force and the People's Public Security Forces at large will uphold their glorious traditions, be absolutely loyal to the Party, Fatherland, and people, and constantly study and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s six teachings to the forces. He stressed that all security officers should try their best to fulfill the main tasks of firmly protecting national security and building a revolutionary, professional, elite and modernized People's Security Force.

* On this occasion, State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc awarded the First-class Fatherland Protection Order to the People's Security Force. He also presented the Third-class Military Exploit Order to Lieutenant General Nguyen Khac Khanh, former Deputy Director of the General Department of Security, the First-class Feat of Arms Order to Deputy Minister Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vu Chien Thang, Director of the Internal Political Security Department Lieutenant General Dang Ngoc Tuyen.
