At a reception in Hanoi on February 13 for head of the EU delegation to Vietnam, Ambassador Pier Giorgio Aliberti, the Government chief described the EP’s approval of the two agreements as a great event of the year that marks the 30th anniversary of Vietnam-EU diplomatic ties, and thanked the Ambassador for his efforts to push for the approval.

The Government, ministries and sectors of Vietnam will do their utmost to deliver on their commitments under the agreements, which will benefit both sides, Phuc told his guest.

He also informed the guest that he had instructed ministries and agencies to quickly proceed with internal procedures for early submission of the two agreements to the National Assembly for ratification.  The Vietnamese NA is set to consider and adopt the two agreements in the forthcoming session.

The cabinet leader asked the EU to help Vietnam enhance its capacity in carrying out the agreements while assuring Vietnam’s readiness to support for and provide the best possible conditions for EU investors to do business in the country.
Vietnam is serving as the ASEAN Chair 2020, which is offering opportunities to promote EU-ASEAN relations, he added.

Ambassador Pier Giorgio Aliberti, for his part, attributed the result to the joint efforts from the two sides, noting that the high approval votes demonstrated the EU’s positive assessment for Vietnam and trust in the country’s reform process. He also stated his appreciation for Vietnam’s cooperation in dealing with recommendations and issues of the EU’s concern.

The EU pledged to work hand in hand with Vietnam to ensure success of the deals’ implementation, he said, adding that the EU will work to popularize the two agreements and the benefits that they will bring about among the people and business community in 27 member states.

The Ambassador said he hopes that Vietnam would stay active in spreading information regarding the agreements so that people and businesses can get a better understanding of the deals.
