Prime Minister hails Japanese Emperor’s visit

PSNews - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his wife on March 2 met hosted a courtesy reception for with Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko on March 2 in Hanoi.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed delight at the comprehensive and substantive developments in the Vietnam – Japan relationship over the past years.

The Vietnamese Prime Minister highlighted the official visit to Vietnam of the Japanese Emperor and Empress as a milestone in the two countries’ relationship, believing that the visit will create a significant momentum for bilateral cooperation between businesses of the two sides.

The Prime Minister thanked the Japanese Royal Family for their great support for the people and the State of Vietnam. He then spoke highly of the Japanese assistance to Vietnam in various fields, especially in economy.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also appreciated the role and contributions by Japanese enterprises operating in Vietnam to local socio-economic development.

For their part, the Emperor and Empress thanked the Vietnamese people and leadership for the solemn reception and for the preservation of Japanese monuments and relics in the central Vietnamese ancient town of Hoi An.

The Emperor also expressed deep gratitude to the Vietnamese people for their valuable support for his country in overcoming earthquake and tsunami consequences in 2011.

At the meeting, the two sides highlighted historical links and cultural similarities between Vietnam and Japan such as paddy rice cultivation, sericulture, and love of peace, which, according to both sides, serve as a firm foundation to consolidate and promote the Vietnam - Japan relationship.

In conclusion, the Vietnamese Prime Minister invited members of Japanese Royal Family to visit Vietnam on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties in 2018. He also wished to meet the Emperor and Empress again during his upcoming visit to Japan.
