Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosts heads of delegations to ASEANAPOL 39

PSNews - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on September 18 hosted a reception for heads of international delegations to the 39th ASEAN Police Chiefs (ASEANAPOL 39) Conference that is taking place in Hanoi.

Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong, Deputy Minister of Public Security, also attended the reception.

PM Phuc welcomed all delegates to Vietnam to attend ASEANAPOL 39.

During the meeting, PM Phuc said that the situations in the region and the world have become more complex in the face of the 4.0 industrial revolution. What is more, the Vietnamese PM went on, non-traditional security threats, transnational crimes, high-tech crimes and cyber crimes continuously increased, which has left comprehensive impacts on various countries, including ASEAN countries.

In this circumstance, PM Phuc suggested that regional countries’ law enforcement forces should promote cooperation and coordination to ensure national security, social order and safety for their own country as well as for the region.

PM Phuc also highlighted that, over the past 40 years, the ASEANAPOL has played an increasingly important role and contributed to international cooperation in crime prevention and control and peace in the region. He urged ASEANAPOL members to promote exchange of information and cooperate with one another in investigating transnational cases and hunting for runaway criminals.

PM Phuc also asked the ASEANAPOL’s leaders to promote their police forces’ cooperation with the UN, the INTERPOL and agencies in charge of prevention and control of transnational crimes.

General Muhammad Tito Karnavian, Chief of the Indonesian National Police, thanked PM Phuc for the reception and congratulated Vietnam on its great socio-economic development in the past years, stressing that Vietnam has enjoyed a comparative high economic growth in the region. 

He affirmed that Vietnam’s stable security and development has contributed positively to regional stability, security and development. He also highly valued the importance of the ASEANAPOL 39, stressing that it helped regional countries enhance mutual understanding and trust and expand regional police cooperation.

He also hailed the 39th ASEANAPOL in Hanoi as a milestone in the development of the association for common security, advancement and prosperity.
