Prime Minister of Cambodia receives Vietnamese Minister of Public Security To Lam

PSNews – A high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security (MPS) led by its Minister, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam visited Cambodia from January 28 to 29 at the invitation of the Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia and Minister of Interior Sar Kheng.

On January 28, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen hosted a courtesy reception for Minister To Lam and his delegation in Phnom Penh. Vietnamese Plenipotentiary Extraordinary Ambassador to Cambodia Vu Quang Minh also joined the visiting delegation of the MPS.

PM Hun Sen welcomed and appreciated Minister Lam's visit to Cambodia, saying that it would contribute to strengthening the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam in general, and between the Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior and the MPS of Vietnam in particular.

He also highly appreciated the effective cooperation between the Cambodian Ministry of Interior and the MPS of Vietnam, especially in the fight against organized and transnational crime, and drug, human trafficking and hi-tech crimes, contributing significantly to effectively protecting security and order and serving the socio-economic development of each nation.

Minister Lam expressed his gratitude to the Cambodian PM for his kind reception and sent the best regards of Vietnam’s PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and other leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam to leaders of the Royal Government of Cambodia.

Minister Lam spoke highly of the achievements gained by the Cambodian people in terms of politics, socio-economic development, culture, security and defence. He also briefed the Cambodian PM on the outcomes of cooperation between the MPS of Vietnam and the Ministry of Interior of Cambodia.

The Vietnamese Minister expressed his hope that PM Hun Sen and leaders of Cambodia’s Government would further support the cooperation of the two nations’ law enforcement forces.

The high-ranking delegation of the MPS of Vietnam held talks with the Interior Ministry of Cambodia on the afternoon of January 29 in Phnom Penh.

The two sides reviewed various joint activities and outcomes of cooperation between the law enforcement forces of the two countries over the past time.

The two sides also held activities in celebration of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Year, contributing to deepening the friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two countries.

Regarding the orientation for cooperation in 2018, the two sides agreed that the two countries’ functional forces should promote coordination in ensuring security and order in each country.

At the same time, the two sides agreed to further their cooperation in ensuring security and safety of visits of leaders of one country to the other country; create favourable conditions for one country’s citizens to live and work in the other country.
