Public Security Central Party Committee holds meeting to review task performance in first half of 2020

PSNews - The Public Security Central Party Committee on June 22 held a meeting in Hanoi to review its task performance in the first half of 2020 and roll out a working plan for the time to come.

Party Secretary General and State President Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended and made speeches at the meeting. General To Lam, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security chaired the meeting.

In his opening remarks, Minister To Lam affirmed that delegates at the meeting will give comments to the draft Political Report to be submitted to the 7th Public Security Party Congress in the 2020 - 2025 term, review task performances of the Public Security Forces over the past six months and discuss key missions to be completed in the remaining months of 2020.

They also made reports on the implementation of the Politburo's Directive No. 35-CT/TW and the 6th Public Security Congress’ Resolution.

According to the report on the implementation of the Resolution of the 6th Public Security Congress, since the beginning of the term, the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security have streamlined and consolidated the organizational apparatus of the Public Security Forces for more efficiency and effectiveness while directing their sub-units to take drastic measures to ensure national security, social order, and strengthen the fight against crimes of all kinds.

As a result, the annual rate of crime commission has continuously reduced. Particularly, the rate decreased by 4.4% in 2016, by 3.02% in 2017, 0.61% in 2018 and 7,39% in the following year.

The report on task performances of the Public Security Forces over the first half of 2020 read that, amid complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the forces have made great efforts along with the whole country to fight the pandemic.

Additionally, in the face of a severe shortage of blood for medical treatment at hospitals nationwide due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the entire Public Security Forces voluntarily donated more than 40,000 units of blood.

Over the past six months, the Public Security Central Party Committee has directed the Public Security Forces to quickly implement the project to post professional policemen to communes and strengthen security protection at the grassroots-level.

So far, 62 per 63 provinces and cities across the country have deployed professional police officers to all of their communes and townships, which have created positive changes in security and social order at the grassroots level.

Besides, the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security’s leadership have called on benefactors to donate money to build and repair houses for thousands of poor families of ethnic minorities in border provinces.

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc recognized and praised the efforts and great achievements of the Public Security Forces over the past time, especially in the COVID-19 prevention and control.

Regarding the key tasks for the forces in the coming time, Prime Minister Phuc asked the forces to attach importance to their Party and force building work as well as work out specific solutions to improve the capacity and efficiency of the communal-level police force so as to meet the requirements of the task of ensuring security at the grassroots level.

The forces should also pay due attention to organizing the Party congresses of public security units and agencies at all levels.

Speaking at the meeting, Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong showed his agreement with the draft Political Report to be submitted to the 7th Public Security Central Party Congress.

According to Party General Secretary and State President Trong, the Ministry of Public Security has well prepared for the organization of the Party Congress in line with Directive No. 35 of the Politburo and the instructions from the Party Central Committee.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security, Minister To Lam thanked the Party and State leader and Prime Minister for their directions to the Public Security Forces. He promised to direct the Public Security Forces to seriously follow their guidelines in order to improve the quality of the Public Security Forces’ task performances in the time to come.

He also assured that the Public Security Forces will overcome all difficulties and successfully fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party, the State and the people, continue developing clean and strong People's Public Security Forces, contributing positively to the cause of national construction and defense.
