Son La’s Van Ho district celebrate 10 years of establishment

The Van Ho district’s authorities in Son La province on June 10 held a solemn ceremony to celebrate the 10th founding anniversary. General To Lam, Politburo Member and Minister of Public Security attended the event.

The ceremony saw the participation of Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Dong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Son La Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Son La province, Mr. Hoang Quoc Khanh, Vice Secretary of the Son La Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee among others also attended the event.

Reports at the event read that, on June 10, 2013, the Government issued Resolution No. 72-NQ/CP on adjusting the administrative boundaries of Moc Chau district (Son La province), which separated the locality into two districts of Moc Chau and Van Ho.

Van Ho district is home to six ethnic groups – Kinh, Thai, Muong, Dao, Mong and Tay. After 10 years of development, the Van Ho District Party Committee, authorities and people of the ethnic groups have made great efforts to overcome all difficulties and challenges, gradually turning the district into a more dynamic and developed locality.

In recent years, the local economic situation has also recorded positive developments. The application of science and technology to agricultural production has been promoted, in addition to efforts to develop fruit trees, raising cattle, and aquaculture.

Especially, in 2020, with the help of the Ministry of Public Security, the Party Committee, authorities and people of Hung Yen province, about 1.300 houses in Van Ho have been built for needy families in Van Ho district, helping them to stabilize their lives and contributing to socio-economic development as well as the security and social order in the locality.

Thanks to that effort, the rate of poor households in the district decreased from 57.3% in 2013 to 26.3% in 2023. National defense and security situation in the locality were consolidated and strengthened.

* Earlier on the same day, Minister of Public Security To Lam also had a working session with the Standing Board of the Party Committee of Van Ho district.

At the working session, Minister To Lam applauded the outstanding results achieved by the authorities and people of the district in the past 10 years and hoped that they will further strengthen the great unity bloc, make all efforts to overcome difficulties and successfully complete all assigned tasks.

He also asked the local authorities to efficiently manage and rationally use resources for medical work, constantly improve professional qualifications for the local medical workers, proficiently use new techniques to provide better medical services for the people in the time to come.
