State President on preparation for APEC 2017

PSNews-Involved agencies preparing for APEC 2017 must not make any error, even a smallest one, said State President Tran Dai Quang at a working session with leaders and involved forces of Da Nang.

The State President asked the authorities and relevant forces of Da Nang to implement seriously 5 tasks.

APEC’s subcommittees and Da Nang city should direct in-charge agencies and forces to accelerate the preparation progress and complete projects as scheduled. Da Nang should finish the related infrastructure projects prior to the deadline. In particular, Da Nang should collaborate with the Ministry of Transportation to focus their efforts and assets on key transport projects, especially the international terminal of Da Nang International Airport.

Sub-committees based on their functions should develop plans for all fields from travelling, logistics to accommodation. In addition to the official schedule, They should also draw up plans to offer tours to officials to local landmarks with the aim of promoting the image of Da Nang city and Vietnam imbued with national identity.

The Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of Defence are supposed to ensure absolute security and social order before, during and after the event. All functional forces must scrutinize schemes for ensuring security and safety for transportation by air, in land and by sea. Forces should make thorough preparation and organize drills on all possible scenarios.

They should also carefully prepare for preventive medicine; food hygiene and safety, emergency facilities, and take into acount unexpected incidents.

The State President also asked involved agencies and forces to enhance popularization and information dissemination so that all Vietnamese people know about this event to join hands with the relevant agencies and forces and make contributions to the success of the event. They should also make the international community know about Vietnam, know about this important event hosted by Vietnam.

The authorities of Da Nang city should focus beautify the city, maintain traffic safety and order, and especially intensify prevention of crimes and social evils.

In the morning of April 18, State President Tran Dai Quang attended a ceremony to press the button to start a countdown clock for the APEC 2017 Summit, organized by the APEC 2017 National Committee and Da Dang People's Committee.

The APEC 2017 Summit will take place from November 6 to 11 in Da Nang, with its highlight of the 25th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting with the participation of leaders from 21 APEC’s member economies as well as thousands of delegates, press reporters and leading businesses.

This provides a golden opportunity for Da Nang city to promote the image of a young, dynamic and hospitable city, and improve its position in the international arena. The city’s leaders will have opportunity to meet and work with many important politicians, leading businesses from the world as well as to seek and promote cooperation programs and contribute to the city's economic development.

At the countdown ceremony to head for the APEC 2017 Summit in Da Nang, leaders of Da Nang Municipal People's Committee said that the event aimed not only to countdown the time and promote the APEC 2017 Summit Week, but also to demonstrate the preparedness and readiness of Da Nang to welcome the significant international economic and political event.

The APEC 2017 Summit is coming and Da Nang has been making all efforts to complete necessary infrastructure projects, accommodation and services for the event under the schedule, ensure security as well as high-quality human resources for the event, and at the same time, actively popularize the event to all people, partners and friends at home and overseas.

The countdown clock, funded and installed by the Holiday Beach Hotel Danang and US-based CP company under the city’s guidance and policy. The Vietnam Record Organization (under the Central Association of Records), has recognized it as the "largest countdown timer in Vietnam".

The clock is made of iron, decorated with LEDs system, standing on concrete base and totaling 21.7meters in height. The Clock operates similarly to the principle of a computer CPU including counting chips, processors and power source, and was programmed to count down the time for the APEC 2017 Summit.
