The People’s Police Force receives “Ho Chi Minh” Medal

The Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security held a grand ceremony on the evening of July 17, 2022, in Hanoi, to mark the 60th Founding Day of the People's Police Force (July 20, 1962-2022).

At the event, the force received the Ho Chi Minh Medal while outstanding policemen and police units were awarded the title “Hero of the People's Armed Forces” and other noble honors by the Party and State.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Minister To Lam and various other leaders of Central agencies, ministries, localities as well as the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) were present at the ceremony.

Addressing the event, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc stated, on July 20, 1962, President Ho Chi Minh signed Decree No. 34 to promulgate Ordinances on tasks, powers and ranks of officers and non-commissioned officers of the People's Police Force.

That has been a historical milestone of the People's Police Force, and since then, July 20 has become the founding day of the People's Police Force.

Today, the People's Police Force has become a centered, united, specialized and hierarchized force and been organized into the 4-level police model "Elite at the ministerial level, strong at the provincial level, comprehensive at the district level, and close to the people at the communal level",  ensuring that it is the core and sharp tool preventing and fighting crime, ensuring public order and safety.

During 60 years of building its force, fighting foreign invaders and crimes, and perfecting its force, the People's Police Force has made a number of outstanding feats of arms and has been awarded various noble rewards by the Party and State, including one Gold Star Medal, while 12 police units and officers have been presented with the Ho Chi Minh Medal, hundreds of other police units and officers were rewarded the title of “Hero of the People's Armed Forces”.

Additionally, the President of the State Council presented the 16 golden words "Vietnamese People’s Police are ingenious and brave in fighting, and ready to sacrifice themselves for the country and the people."

Speaking at the event, on behalf of the leaders of the Party, State and People, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated the People's Police Force on the “Ho Chi Minh” Medal as well as police units and officers on other noble titles and awards.

The Prime Minister emphasized that in the coming time, the People's Police Force should be the vanguard and exemplary force in implementing the Party's guidelines, and the State's laws and policies as well as in building truly clean, strong, regular, elite and modern People's Public Security Forces.

The force should attach more importance to the work of building a clean and strong Party organization, improve the leadership capacity and combat strength of Party organizations and Party members, foster cultural standards of policemen, beautify the noble image of the brave and humane policeman, who has a "hot heart,” a “cold head,” a “firm stand,” “clean hands” and self-respect." He stressed, “General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong once said, “One’s honor is the most sacred and noble thing!””

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also suggested that the force should improve the effectiveness of foreign affairs and international cooperation, especially cooperation with police agencies of other countries and international police organizations on crime prevention and control so as to create a combined, continuous, proactive front against crime at an early stage and from afar.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Minister To Lam presented flowers and emblems to 60 examples of People's Police - representing the entire contemporary Vietnamese People's Police force.

Police should always be closely attached to the people, respect the people, listen to the opinions and aspirations of the people, and wholeheartedly serve the people, put itself under the people's supervision so that the people can really enjoy the fruits of the work of ensuring security and order, the cause of renovation and international integration.

The force should continue to prioritize resources in a reasonable, effective and focused manner to build a really clean, strong, regular, elite, modern People's Police Force in the current situation with a corps of police officers with firm political stance, excellent professional expertise, good knowledge of laws, advanced technology and foreign languages.
