#August Revolution

Seventy-seven years ago today, Vietnamese people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, carried out the August Revolution, smashing the age-old colonialism and feudalism.

Since the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) in 1930, the reality has proved that the correct and clear-sighted leadership of the Party is the decisive factor in every victory and miracle of the Vietnamese revolution.

Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong offered incense in commemoration of the late President Ho Chi Minh at House No. 67 inside the Presidential Palace complex in Hanoi on September 1 to mark the 75th anniversary of the August Revolution, on August 19, and National Day, on September 2.

The August Revolution’s victory 75 years ago liberated Vietnamese people from slavery to become masters of an independent state with the revolution providing many important lessons about national construction and development and global integration.

On September 2, 1945, then President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, proclaiming the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

In August 1945, a call for a general uprising was delivered throughout Vietnam. 20 million Vietnamese rose up to wrest back power and gain independence from French colonialists. The momentous victory of the August Revolution manifested the people’s power and drew a lesson about great unity and considering people the root.

There have been a number of articles on social networks distorting the historical significance of and making up some details of the August Revolution of the Vietnamese people. Everyone knows that the authors of the articles are the ones who have been at odds with the Vietnamese revolution and are trying to oppose the Party and State of the Vietnamese people and support the so-called “democratic society.”
