Efforts aiming to improve the local business climate have continued despite the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) slowing progress in comparison to previous years across different fields, according to the latest report by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

The Hanoi People’s Committee has issued a plan to improve the municipal business climate and competitiveness index (PCI) this year.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has affirmed that Vietnam vows to create the best business environment for Japanese enterprises and urged them to expand activities in the country and increase connections with local firms.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc urged the southern province of Binh Phuoc to continue improving business climate and removing bottlenecks for investors, while attending an investment promotion conference in the locality on August 20.

Representatives from a number of international organisations applauded Vietnam’s improved business climate and competitiveness at the Vietnam Business Summit that took place in central Da Nang city on November 7 within the framework of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week 2017. 

Vietnam and Indonesia have implemented the most reforms in the past 15 years, with 39 reforms each, according to the World Bank Group’s latest Doing Business report.

Vietnam will continue reforming its economy, improving the business climate and fully implementing the commitments it has made to the free trade agreements (FTAs), actively contributing to regional economic and trade integration.

Officials on the Binh Duong People’s Committee listened to a chorus of complaints from Taiwanese transnational businesses on October 28 regarding their dissatisfaction with the business climate in the province.
