#Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership

Preferential export taxes offered by the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) are expected to be promulgated this month. However, the tax reduction is only one of the incentives for Vietnamese goods when entering markets, not a ‘lifesaver’ for businesses, said the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT).

In addition to trade and investment opportunities, the participation in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) will offer Vietnam a chance to modernise its labour laws and industrial relations system, thus creating sustainable jobs and bringing practical benefits to workers.

The 14th National Assembly passed a resolution approving the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and related documents in the afternoon of November 12 with 96.7 percent of votes.

A delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA)’s Committee for External Affairs visited Ottawa and Toronto of Canada from June 20 to 25 to bolster parliamentary ties and discuss the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

One year after the US’s withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), the remaining 11 Asia-Pacific countries, including Vietnam, have signed a new Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) to remove tariff barriers in the region.

Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh has called on economic sectors to make adequate preparations for best utilization of the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), which will be signed in Santiago, Chile on March 8 by ministers from 11 member countries.
