Through the IPU platform, Vietnam has advanced parliamentary diplomacy to protect national interests, deepen ties with other legislatures, and elevate its global profile while contributing initiatives in areas such as sustainable development, climate change, gender equality, child protection, and digital transformation.

Tran Thanh Man, a member of the Politburo and permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly (NA), chaired a ceremony on July 24 in Hanoi to present the State President’s Friendship Order to Anders Johnsson, former Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

Vice Chairwoman of the National Assemby (NA)’s Council for Ethnic Affairs Dinh Thi Phuong Lan led a Vietnamese delegation to attend the eighth Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians in Egypt’s Sharm el Sheikh from June 15-16.

A Vietnamese delegation led by Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for External Relations Vu Hai Ha attended the opening of the 143rd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-143) hosted by the Parliament of Spain in Madrid on November 26 evening (local time).

Vietnam treasures ties with Qatar, considering the country an important partner in the region, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said.

The National Assembly of Vietnam is always a responsible member of the IPU and ready to work with IPU and other member parliaments to implement the IPU resolutions and initiatives, contributing to building peace and sustainable development for the sake of people around the globe, Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said.

The National Assembly (NA) of Vietnam coordinated with the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to hold a meeting in the central city of Da Nang on December 18 on realising challenges posed for Vietnam in the implementation of sustainable development goals (SDGs).

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan hosted a reception for Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Martin Chungong on the sidelines of a conference themed “The National Assembly and the sustainable development goals” held in the central coastal city of Da Nang on December 17. 

A conference highlighting parliaments’ role in realising the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was opened in Da Nang city on December 17 by the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA), the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the UN Development Programme (UNDP).

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan will attend the 137th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly and related meetings in Russia from October 14-15 and pay an official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan from October 16-18.
