In October 2025, at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters, the UN General Assembly continued to place its trust in Vietnam, electing the country to the UN Human Rights Council for the 2026-2028 term with 180 votes—the highest among the Asia-Pacific group.

Vietnam made active contributions to the recent 52nd session of the UN Human Right Council held in Geneva, Switzerland, by putting forward an initiative aimed at marking 75 years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and 30 years of the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action.
