Vietnamese blockbuster “Hon Papa Da Con Gai” (Daddy Issues), a production by Japanese director Ken Ochiai, will be in cinemas in Japan next week after its release in the Republic of Korea in September.

Surpassing other nine finalists, "Bi, Khong So Nua" (Bi, No More Fear), a film by Ho Chi Minh City-based video production FGS, won the highest prize in 48 Hour Film Project Vietnam.

Vietnamese films Thua Me Con Di (Goodbye, Mother) directed by Trinh Dinh Le Minh and Anh Trai Yeu Quai (My Annoying Brother) directed by Vu Ngoc Phuong will be presented at the Busan International Film Fest (BIFF) on October 3-12.

Vietnamese filmmaker Linh Nga’s ‘Inside This Peace’ has won the prize for the Best Feature Documentary at the California Women’s Film Festival.

The movie The Third Wife by director Nguyen Phuong Anh (Ash Mayfair) has won the Best Film title at the 24th Kolkata International Film Festival in India.

NDO – A series of Vietnamese art films have been released in recent years, many of which have won international prizes and been highly appreciated by film critics. However, the genre has not yet gained popularity as it has not drawn much interest from domestic viewers and has often been doomed to financial failures.

The Vietnamese cinematography is lacking high-quality works though the number of films made is on the rise and investment in the industry has been diverse, heard a workshop in Ho Chi Minh City on April 9.

Private film companies will make history at the annual 2016 Golden Kite Awards competition organised by the Vietnam Cinematography Association in HCM City on April 9.
